Meet
Sue Bachner
I'm a trained end-of-life doula and communications professional based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, on Treaty 6 Territory and the Homeland of the Métis.

For more than 30 years, I've worked in journalism and corporate communications. Throughout my career, I've learned that one of the greatest gifts we can offer another person is to truly listen. The skills I've developed in helping people feel heard, understood and supported now shape how I accompany individuals and families through the end-of-life journey.

A few years ago, through a series of meaningful conversations and personal reflections, I felt a strong pull toward this work. In early 2026, I began volunteering with Prairie Hospice Society in Saskatoon, offering comfort, companionship and connection to people facing serious illness and end of life, as well as those who love and care for them.

I'm someone who finds meaning in stories, relationships and everyday moments. I'm deeply moved by artistic expression and the ways people create, remember, celebrate and make sense of their lives. These qualities inform how I show up as a doula: with curiosity, compassion, presence and a deep respect for each person's unique journey.
